I watched the video (posted above) of former Judge Jeanie Pirro, and I fell in love – figuratively, not actually (my girlfriend would not be happy if I had). She said the words that I so often agree with – down with political correctness. It was reminiscent of the observational humor and commentary by the likes of George Carlin and Andrew Rooney – personal heroes of mine and the inspiration for my own attempt at commentary on this blog.
Pirro is absolutely correct in what she says. The First Amendment right of free speech must remain inviolate. Understandably, this comes with consequences such as when a bully maligns a weaker person with hateful words, or when slander is committed, or when supremacists spray paint swastikas on the wall of a synagogue. Our right to free speech is sometimes used as a shield of defense on certain occasions when its use is designed to taunt. I think such was the case in Garland, Texas. It probably wasn’t the best idea knowing what might happen, but in my own way I applaud Pamela Geller for having the daring to get up and throw political correctness out the window. Was it inflammatory? Yes! But damn, it felt good.
There is one thing Pirro failed to bring out in her video and one which we Americans have a tendency to ignore. If you think that the reactions of groups like ISIL, and ISIS, and Al Queda are not in direct response to our international involvement in Iraq and Libya and Syria and Iran and Afghanistan, then we should be. As we see more of our real history over the past decades unveiled, it’s plain to see that the United States is not necessarily the one always riding into battle with a white hat on. Make no mistake; we are complicit in the escalation of world tension. I do believe that we need to be the Older Brother on the block and to do what we can to aid and assist the millions of unfortunate people who suffer under the regimes of Middle Eastern and Asian dictators and extremist “organizations”, but I am also cognizant of the consequences we face in assuming that role. We are at war, and we don’t really have to worry about putting boots on the ground in foreign countries, they’re bringing it to us, and this is just the beginning.
As for the rest, I stand with Jeanie Pirro with cheers to free speech and to hell with PC!

Freedom of speech is a positive term and it is enjoyed by a person or class of people during oppression. oppressions may be various types i.e. political, economical, social…..and it may causes to deprivation of their rights and also may demolish moral or ethical values.
Freedom of speech is enjoyed to protect and guard the fundamental rights and human values but unfortunately it is used as a tool of spreading propaganda to wrongfull enjoyment and fulfilment of vested intersts.
The scholarly world community is busy in the tireless efforts to bring the proper coditions and situation in the world so that people can enjoy the the right of freedom of speech freely. In real sense, no single country in the world is a proper place for free speech. we can only enjoy the freedom of speech in some extent in Eurupean countries literally than the middle east countries or rest of the world.
If our intention is pure and aim is to serve the humanity then it is not impossible to make the world a place free speech within near future if Allah wills.
We need to grow up with a loving soul and warm heart towards the mankind and other living creatures as well as environment.

I agree with you that free speech is inviolate, but when supremacists spray paint swastikas on the wall of a synagogue, it is a property crime, like if someone were to spray paint on your car that you are a bad driver, that is a property crime, however if they were to stand next to your car, on a public sidewalk, with a sign saying that you are a bad driver, then that would be free speech.
I am not sure why you think that we are complicit in the escalation of world tension, sometimes evil is real and not our fault.
Is the US to blame too for Putin’s invasion of Ukraine? The opposite is true, the US is treaty bound to protect the Ukraine (see the Budapest agreements), and yet we are ignoring our international responsibilities. And if there were any question whatsoever about what the US gained from these agreements, the short story is that Ukraine gave up its nukes in return for international assurances that countries would come to their aid if attacked, I see how that has worked for them.

The point I was making is that we have enacted additional statues regarding crimes that stem from free speech. It becomes a property crime or a hate crime when exercising a right to free speech, and the consequence is being convicted of those crimes and not for the act of saying it freely. In this country we can say what we like otherwise, without fear of incarceration or worse, like that poor Bangladeshi blogger, Ananta Bijoy Das, who was hacked to death for things he wrote; and he wasn’t the first. You can say or write what you like, just be aware of the consequences if you bring other laws into play.
As far as our being complicit in world tension, it is to be expected. Whether we are acting in accordance with the terms of a treaty or under our own initiative, it will be looked upon by those we act against from their perspective and not ours. To them we have attacked them on their soil, hence, rightfully or wrongly, we are complicit. It’s action and reaction. Al Qaeda hates us because we stepped foot in Saudi Arabia to help Kuwait against Iraq. Should we have been there to help? Absolutely. But that doesn’t stop them from interpreting our actions as an escalation. We went into Iraq under the pretense that they had weapons of mass destruction. That was wrong, but I think we needed to go there anyway because of Saddam Hussein – he was killing his own people and that’s intolerable.
Putin and Ukraine? That’s a whole other issue I worry about and was the subject of one of my earlier blog posts – and will be the subject of some new ones coming…
